The “Centre Lyonnais d’Acoustique“, CeLyA, has been funded in 2011 as a “Laboratoire d’Excellence” by the French Ministry of Research.
An international jury has selected a total of 170 projects in all disciplines, from pure mathematics to social sciences. CeLyA was awarded a total financial support of 6M€ for a period of nearly 10 years (600k€/year), and it is the only LabEx devoted entirely to acoustics.
CeLyA is an alliance of the main research teams working in acoustics in Lyon in:
- Engineering acoustics: aeroacoustics, vibroacoustics, building acoustics and non-destructive evaluation.
- Medical applications of acoustics: Ultrasonic imaging and therapy by ultrasound
- Sound perception: Sound quality, psychoacoustics, auditory perception and neurosciences
Eight research teams are participating in CeLyA; around 80 permanent researchers are involved and the total staff, including PhD and Postdoctoral students, amounts to 150 people.
